APCON at Interop New York 2008Company debuting a new line of high-density matrix switches;
NEW YORK, September 15, 2008At the Interop exhibition this week, APCON (booth 724) is introducing a new family of matrix switches that will significantly enhance the ability of enterprises to streamline performance monitoring on even the most complex networks. APCON also is providing critical connectivity management for the monitoring and analysis devices deployed in the Interop show network. Next-Generation Switch Solution APCON is well known for its IntellaPatch® Series 2000 line of matrix switches. Today it announced a new flagship product line – the IntellaPatch Series 3000. This new family of next-generation switches is designed specifically for today’s most demanding data center and test lab environments, and offers high-density blades – 1U high and featuring 36 ports each – that provide critical space savings. Users now can have 144 ports of non-blocking, any-to-any connectivity in a 4U chassis, as opposed to the 9U height that the Series 2000 chassis currently offers. As a result, the new switches enable management of thousands of critical network segments with a smaller overall footprint, while still delivering 100% network visibility. The Series 3000 line innovates further with its fault-tolerant, redundant dual controller cards. Unlike switches with single controllers that can halt network operations during a failure, the Series 3000 has high availability fail-over, which allows it to be used in-line, in the production network of an enterprise or test lab environment. The IntellaPatch Series 3000 is modular, offering hot-swappable power supplies and field-replaceable fans in addition to the dual controller cards. It also allows hot firmware upgrades and a host of advanced diagnostic features. The line is initially available in 72- and 144-port configurations, and that will quickly be followed-up with a 36-port offering. Blades initially available include 10/100/1000 Copper Ethernet and 100/1000 Fiber Ethernet, as well as 8 Gbps Fibre Channel and 10 Gbps Fiber Ethernet. Like the Series 2000 line, Series 3000 switches allow secure, remote access for multiple users via an embedded web interface; and the new line is compatible with all APCON user interfaces. APCON in Interop Network APCON is again among a select group of technology providers chosen for inclusion in the Interop network. APCON’s IntellaPatch switches and TITAN network management software, will be deployed in the Protocol Analysis area of the network to provide connectivity management for network monitoring and analysis devices. APCON's technology will enable an Interop engineering team to deploy monitoring and network security appliances from a centralized location, and then electronically move and share the devices, without dispatching operations personnel or disrupting the network infrastructure. This will make it possible to quickly detect, isolate and solve any problems that may arise. "APCON's selection is significant considering the number of companies and attendees who take part in any Interop event. It's also important since the success of an event is dependent on a reliable, high-performing network, which our switches all but guarantee," said Richard Rauch, APCON’s chief executive officer.
