APCON Technology Chosen for INTEROP Show
Network for a Third Consecutive Year

WILSONVILLE, Ore., December 8, 2009 - For the third consecutive year, APCON, Inc. has been selected as the switch provider for the network operation centers (NOCs) at the key Interop industry trade events in the U.S. in 2010.  The largest domestic exhibitions aimed at buyers and users of networked IT products and technology, Interop again will be held in Las Vegas (April) and New York (October).

New Packet Aggregation Switches to Ensure
Optimal Network Performance

Chosen from among dozens of contenders, APCON will deploy its IntellaPatch Series 3000 switches - combined with INTELLAFLEX, the company's new aggregation and filtering  solution - in the Protocol Analysis area of the Interop NOC.

Controlled centrally by the management software, EnterPoint, a Best of Interop finalist in 2009, these products will provide the show with connectivity management for network monitoring and analysis devices.

"Our products are designed specifically for the monitoring challenges faced in today's complex enterprise networks," said Richard Rauch, president and CEO of APCON. "While the economy is showing signs of improvement, IT departments are still facing the need to control costs. As the Interop network deployment will illustrate, this new combined solution enables them to make even better use of existing tool investments - sharing tools across the network, between different groups of users, and ensuring that these tools are focused on the most critical network traffic."

Having the IntellaPatch-INTELLAFLEX solution, the Interop engineering team will be able to instantly and electronically connect network monitoring and security appliances - from a centralized tool farm - to monitoring ports on the show network as needed. This will contribute to maintaining 100% network uptime and make it possible to quickly detect, isolate and solve any problems that may arise.

While the specific configuration APCON is providing to Interop has not been finalized, it will include the new INTELLAFLEX Packet Aggregator blade. INTELLAFLEX allows users to aggregate multiple links from network SPAN, Tap or mirror ports, and filter and direct the desired traffic to specific monitoring devices. In this way, users are able to electronically share expensive monitoring devices (such as analyzers and IDS) - often across multiple locations - while preventing oversubscription and data loss.

Supporting up to 144 ports in 4U, INTELLAFLEX offers the highest port density in a single chassis - accommodating large enterprises that typically have hundreds of SPAN ports and Taps in their networks. INTELLAFLEX also offers the highest port aggregation density, with a maximum of 120 1G ports or 32 10G ports in a single chassis.

Series 3000 Meets Needs of Demanding
Data Center Environments

IntellaPatch Series 3000 switches support a variety of protocols and data rates, including the 10G Ethernet found in many enterprise networks, and the 8G Fibre Channel found in many test lab environments. A Series 3000 switch consumes just 4U of rack space yet delivers the high performance and innovation required to manage thousands of critical network segments, and also achieve 100% enterprise network visibility. To simplify the management of this configuration, EnterPoint will provide engineers with a device-centric, point-and-click interface from which to perform device connections in real time.

Series 3000 switches feature redundant controllers with automatic failover, allowing them to be used in in-line network applications; and are modular, providing hot-swappable power supplies and fan modules. They also offer hitless upgrades, as well as secure, remote access for multiple users via an embedded web interface.

"APCON's selection by Interop is significant considering the number of companies and attendees who take part in any of the organization's events. It's also important since the success of an event is dependent on a reliable, high-performing network, which our switches all but guarantee," said Rauch.
