Offload processing from routers and other production equipment to increase accuracy and efficiency, and consolidate NetFlow sources to reduce network traffic and simplify your monitoring architecture.
A better NetFlow solution
NetFlow is used to visualize traffic patterns on a network-wide basis. The NetFlow set of protocols enables statistics and traffic information for analyzing network data. Network engineers can gain real time insights into all of the underlying traffic while providing all necessary data feeds to applications, security and operations teams. This allows tracking of network growth based on number of routing devices, ports, or higher-bandwidth interfaces. Likewise, security analysis is augmented by tracking network traffic changes and anomalies.
NetFlow is often generated by routers and switches at key locations across the network. However, there are disadvantages to this approach including the performance impact on key production network routers/switches, the use of network bandwidth to transmit NetFlow records, and added complexity of collecting records from many sources across the network. Luckily, we have better NetFlow generation solutions.
While the NetFlow function native in routers and switches typically sample the data looking at anywhere from every second to every tenth packet, the HyperEngine packet processor, for example, can look at every packet.

Netflow hardware
Our hardware platforms, processing up to 600G of throughput per blade, can be a primary NetFlow source for large networks, offloading processing from your production router network. It is a licensable feature on the following APCON hardware:
Ultra-high performance network visibility
The IntellaView platform monitors high-speed 100G network traffic and is an ideal, scalable source of NetFlow records for monitoring NetFlow traffic statistics on the world's highest speed networks.
