TAPs allow network engineers to access data throughout their networks, ensuring the data is forwarded to the right monitoring and analysis tools. Network engineers rely on TAPs to analyze network data and diagnose and debug problems faster. TAPs offer an uncensored view of all network traffic and are an integral part of the network monitoring architecture.

ApconTap® simplifies network monitoring and security efforts by providing failsafe passive network TAPs designed to fit in the same data center rack near any APCON intelligent network monitoring switch.

Monitor with Confidence
APCON’s portfolio of passive TAPs that capture network traffic under all conditions to simplify network monitoring and security. Each ApconTap model supports common data center optical fiber standards with split ratio options available at 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30. With the introduction of passive fiber 40Gbps and 100Gbps TAPs, APCON offers short range, long range and bidirectional models to accommodate requirements for next generation data center deployments.

Fast, Secure and Modular
The ApconTap modular design eliminates unnecessary cabling and connections, improving both reliability and security. The unpowered passive Ethernet tap design of ApconTap maintains pass-through link connectivity at all times.

How TAPs Work

A TAP designed to monitor one network connection generally comes with at least three ports: an A port, a B port and a monitor port. Taps allow the network traffic to flow through the A and B ports of the device uninterrupted, while simultaneously copying the same data to the monitor port. The monitor port can be used to feed VoIP recording devices, network intrusion detection systems, network probes, protocol analyzers, packet sniffers, RMON probes, and data aggregation and filtering systems such as the APCON IntellaFlex XR network monitoring solution.
